Driving for a Ton… of Food!

2013 Driving for a Ton

At the Jasper facility, Amelia Ebert sorted the donated food for distribution among various food banks.

During the week of October 21-25 Associates from the Jasper, Crawford and Willow Springs facilities participated in the “Let’s Drive for a Ton” food drive to benefit various food banks in all three areas.

The food drive, which occurred in conjunction with “National Make A Difference Day” had a very simple goal… collect a ton (2,000 pounds) of non-perishable food items. The generosity of our Associates shined through as we collected 2,057 pounds of food! Each food bank was very appreciative and thankful for our donation.

Congratulations to all who participated and for showing the true JASPER spirit of giving!

As part of JASPER’s Veterans Day luncheon held on November 11th, representatives of the Indiana Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) were on hand for a special signing ceremony to re-affirm JASPER’s commitment to the ESGR. The ESGR is an organization dedicated to helping Veterans obtain employment after they leave the military. JASPER currently employs 179 Associates who serve, or have served in the military…. that’s 10% of our workforce! According to the ESGR, the average company’s workforce includes only 1% Veterans. A big thanks to all of our Veterans for not only your service to JASPER, but more importantly, your service to our country!

JETT Endowment Presents Inaugural Grant

JETT Endowment - Check Presentation 11-14-13
The JETT Endowment Committee presents this year’s grant to Mike Hagerdon representing
Dubois County Community
Meals in the amount of $7,575.00 on November 14, 2013.

Jasper Endows Today and Tomorrow (JETT) offers a unique giving experience that allows JASPER
Associates and their families the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of philanthropy, while
combining resources to be used for the betterment of our communities for today and tomorrow.

The charter members voted to offer the inaugural grant of $7,575.00 to Dubois County Community
Meals. “We are going to dedicate the entire fund at this point to reaching out to school-age children
who are either on the free or reduced lunch program, to help bridge the hurdle when they’re not in
school,” said Mike Hagerdon of Dubois County Community Meals.

“We will be offering other groups something to potentially help them also,” said Mark Balsmeyer,
JETT Facilitator. “It may not be money, it may be time and service.”

Each JETT member possess a voting share in deciding which charity will receive the grant from
the group. By combining resources JETT members are making a significant, lasting impact for our
local communities.

A Big Day for Donations

(JASPER, IN – October 31, 2013)

That’s right! This Halloween we had two charitable events running simultaneously.

Mario & Luigi

Just another day at the office for this dynamic duo.

We had another successful Casual Dress/Soup Day at Jasper Engines & Transmissions. This year’s Halloween Casual Day donations will benefit Relay for Life – Breast Cancer Awareness. For fun, Associates wore costumes or casual clothes for a $1 donation. JASPER and its Associates raised over $550 for this event!

“Doing It Right… And Having Fun!”

Our Inside Sales Department also hosted “Soup Day” to benefit the local Soup Kitchen – Dubois County Community Meal. Associates brought in over a dozen pots of homemade soup, sandwiches and other ghoulish goodies for the event. Together, JASPER and its Associates raised $720 during this event! “We had amazing participation from our Inside Sales Department in this event. We always look forward to this, it’s so much fun! Thank you to everyone who came and contributed”, said event organizer Angie Robinson.

It’s truly amazing what happens when we all come together to support worthy causes. “Think globally, act locally.”
